I woke up in the chair a minute before 03:00, as Her alarm went off, at the desk where She was sitting and had been awake all night.
I showered and dressed, as did She, finalized packing, had a quick cup of coffee, and we headed out. Our driver was waiting, as He was supposed to be, and took our bags, and we got in the car.
It was a quiet and easy ride.
We arrived about 04:25, and asked for wheelchair service.
It was quickly provided.
We headed up, got through security easily enough, stopped for sodas and newspapers, and were at the gate at 510, waiting for our 5:55 departure.
We were boarded at 05:30.
The plane pushed back 06:02, and was up 6:09.
An uneventful. flight. I read The New York Times, while She mostly dozed, leaning against my shoulder.
On the ground HOU 11:07 Central; at the gate 11:10, inside the terminal 11:13.
We arrived into gate 21. We were scheduled to depart from gate 21!
Our scheduled departure from there to New Orleans was 1:05.
The gate was changed to 20, so we had to go 'all the way' across the walk way.
We boarded at 12:52, and sat there.
..Came the announcement, this plane had been fueled for a long flight, but we were taking a short one, and for weight management, it would have to be de-fueled a bit.
Then they announced, we would have to disembark, before they could defuel, because of weight.
Then they settled with, having the passengers who got on via stand by, to get off.
Then they defueled.
Then we pushed back, and were airborne at 13:50.
We landed at 1455, and were off and in the terminal at 1500.
We were met by Theresa, a friend of my parents for 50 years, same one who met me two weeks prior, and Ronald, who waited in the car.
We had the checked bag, and she went out to get in the car with Ronald, while we claimed the bag, and went curbside, where they picked us up.
Off we went to Diamondhead.
Merry and I were dozing in the car, and jarred awake, when Ronald was talking and driving, and hit the bumps along the lane markers, signifying he was out of the lane.
We arrived at Dad's house, 1630.
Dad was there, along with one of Mom's three surviving sisters, Bee, and one of Dad's surviving sisters, Carolyn.
We sat in the living room, talking.
I had a beer, or two.
In time, a couple, another of my parents' long term friends, Rog and Gail, arrived.
In more time, one of my MANY cousins, Kurt arrived.
I haven't seen him in .....wow... years.
Merry and I took a nap, a couple hours,
Went and rejoined the group.
Dinner was served, pot roast.
We ate, we talked, we excused ourselves to bed.
I didn't realize or even think about ... beer being NOT gluten-free, until the next day ....
